Article Abstract:
The Dos Sibaris restaurant in Nishinomiya, Japan was designed to evoke a classical Spanish atmosphere. The building is of white stucco with a red slate roof. The layout includes an open patio which can accomodate diners in warm weather. Pale, painted walls and high ceilings combined with wooden beams and a Spanish tile floor give the reataurant a distinctive European flavor. The restaurant is jointly owned by creative director Shinji Miyagaki and Ken Murakami, president of seafood producer Kanetetsu.

Interior designer Christopher Corcoran designed the fashion showroom of clothing designer Andrea Jovine. Corcoran captured the Oriental influence on Jovine's clothes in the interior design rendering of the showroom. Oriental influences are shown in the six-panel screen which forms part of the president's office. The main receptionarea is furnished with a damask- patterned carpet and sofa, to evoke a homey atmosphere. Corcoran worked within a total budget of $225,000.

The offices of the Ratcliffe Architects in Emeryville, CA reflect the firm's flexible and free-flowing philosophy. The 1930's brick warehouse was converted into an office building byusing a straightforward interior plan which preserved the original beams and steel trusses. The public and executive offices were separated by elevation. The office' three sections were defined by building length beams and perpendicular bowstring trusses.
