Locust Grove

Article Abstract:

Locust Grove is a house-museum on the south bank of the Ohio River in Louisville, KY, that was built on 387 acres of land in 1790. Although owned by William Croghan, Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark also lived at Locust Grove as the two were brothers-in-law.

Article Abstract:

The rage in 18th century England to build pavilions in landscape gardens spread to America. The best pavilions or summerhouses in the US are the pair built by woodcarver and architect Samuel McIntire for Massachusetts merchant Elias Hasket Derby.
