The Spread Eagle Tavern was built in 1837 to address the growth of business in Hanoverton in Ohio. Current owner Peter Johnson Sr., who bought the property in 1988, had the inn remodeled before it was to be reopened for business. The public rooms and guestrooms were named after national figures.
