The historic Samuel Trevett House in Marblehead, MA, remains as one of the premier examples of Georgian architecture. Its current owner, advertising executive Nan King Parker, strove to make it light, airy and cheery with pastel colors and floral prints, as well as skylights and oversized windows.

John Speed was a wealthy planter who married Lucy Fry in the early 1800s. The couple made a home at Farmington, a hemp plantation in Louisville, KY. Made of bricks, the Federal-style house is believed to have been designed by Thomas Jefferson.
