The flowering of the Museum gardens

Article Abstract:

Wilson Eyre's original design for the University of Pennsylvania Museum called for the construction of six landscaped courtyards. Although only two courtyards were built, another two inner courtyards were added when the academic wing of the museum was completed in 1971. The gardens that lie on the museum's grounds have also evolved through the years, with Christine Rosengarten and Nancy Warden playing key roles in the refurbishment of the courtyards and the landscaping of the gardens. With the construction of the proposed East Wing, the gardens are expected to be relandscaped once more.

Museum courtyard to get a facelift as part of the campaign for the East Wing

Article Abstract:

The proposed East Wing of the University of Pennsylvania Museum will be named the A. Bruce and Margaret R. Mainwaring Wing in recognition of the role played by the the two philanthrophists in raising funds for the wing's construction. The wing will also have a newly relandscaped garden designed by the Olin Partnership which will be named the Thomas and Kit Stoner Courtyard in honor of the two individuals who have spearheaded the fundraising campaign for the courtyard's redesign.

An enamelled square-headed brooch from East Anglia

Article Abstract:

An Anglo-Saxon brooch fragment was discovered in the 1980s in East Anglia, England. The shape and unusual enamelled setting are discussed.
