Article Abstract:

William Thoms' coinage of the term folklore was intended to place the study of documents and cultural relics from the past within a discourse within treasured national archives. The activity of the folklore society was aimed at placing the study of folklore within the university disciplines, but many new scientific disciplines, such as evolution or Darwinism, would create a hostile atmosphere for folklorists in the late nineteenth century.

Genres of Comoran folklore

Article Abstract:

An understanding of a culture's classification of their oral traditions can enhance folklore research. Cormoran folklore is made up of two traditional genres, the hadisi and hale. Hadisi usually involves myths and stories based on Muslim tradition. The hale is generally a fictitious story involving outrageous circumstances or imaginary worlds.

Texture, text, and context of the folklore text vs. indexing

Article Abstract:

A series of contexts should be used as a method of classifying folklore. Language, sound, kinetics, literary-artistic qualities of texture and content, historical context, cultural contexts, social and psychological context, the audience and social organization should be incorporated in the classification method.
