An exhibition at the Laboratory of Anthropology in Santa Fe in New Mexico chronicles the country's oldest and most ambitious effort to save or document archaeological sites threatened by highway construction. The exhibits include artifacts found during highway excavations, prehistoric pottery, historic bottles and a shell pendant carved in the shape of a fish between A.D. 1110 and 1400.
