Article Abstract:
The need to preserve military sites of the Cold War has been highlighted in the Department of Defense Legacy Resource Management Program. Some states, including Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma do not seem to consider it necessary to preserve recent historic sites. However efforts are on to preserve the resources that can serve as important records of the history of the Cold War. The ruins of nuclear testing grounds and missile defense batteries are being studied for conservation.
