Article Abstract:

There is much controversy over whether an adolescent medical patient has sufficient decision-making capacity to refuse medical treatment. Many factors must be taken into consideration by the medical staff, including family beliefs and cultural values. Folklorists can be helpful in situations where there is cultural opposition to certain treatments or operations.

Indexing folktales: a critical survey

Article Abstract:

An international type and motif indexing guide for folktales is desperately needed to document more recent tales from traditions not recorded in the previous works. A new international index should indicate the time of publication and ethnic or regional information. In addition, a detailed table classifying contents is also required.

Texture, text, and context of the folklore text vs. indexing

Article Abstract:

A series of contexts should be used as a method of classifying folklore. Language, sound, kinetics, literary-artistic qualities of texture and content, historical context, cultural contexts, social and psychological context, the audience and social organization should be incorporated in the classification method.
