Borrowed legacy: Royal tombs S9 and S10 at South Abydos

Article Abstract:

Archaeologists have discovered two tomb structures known as S9 and S10 at South Abydos, Egypt, displaying the same architectural components as those found in the Memphite pyramids, built during the rein of the 13th Dynasty of pharaohs, near Modern Cairo. The excavation of the two sites is yet to reveal the identity of the pharaohs buried within them, but archaeologists are looking for new data that would help in their understanding of the numerous royal figures and their circumstances during the era.

Food fit for the soul of a pharaoh: The mortuary temple's bakeries and breweries

Article Abstract:

The bakeries and breweries attached to Senwosret III's mortuary temple in Abydos, Egypt are investigated for understanding about the secular activities provided by the temple. The investigation on the 'shena', the economic wing which coordinated the provisioning and distribution of supplies to the temples, presents a glimpse of how archaeological study can further help in the understanding of the economic and administrative organization of religious institutions.

One pharaoh, two tombs

Article Abstract:

Egyptian pharaoh, Senwosret III seems to have built two tombs, the pyramid complex in northern Egypt, at Dahshur, just South of Memphis, and mortuary complex at South Abydos. An investigation on why he built two tombs, and why he chose to be buried at Abydos, is presented.
