Archaeology in Turkey

Article Abstract:

Turkish archaeology is experiencing an increase in the number of archaeological expeditions. Thus, complementary research on parallel issues is also expanding. For instance, Byzantine sites are used to be studied only for their architecture and art history, although recently, researchers have taken notice of their social and economic trasnformations. This increase in data regarding archaeology has opened the door for concerned efforts at synthesis where general studies and handbooks are more welcome in the archaeological field.
