Article Abstract:
The ancient Jewish city of Sepphoris is the subject of an exhibition at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC. The residents of Sepphoris, although predominantly Jewish, adopted many elements of Roman culture. The exhibition includes some 200 objects, a reconstruction of the site's excavation, an interactive computer program, and rare manuscripts that contain passages on Sepphoris. After July 6, 1997, the exhibition will travel to the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and the University of Michigan Museum of Art in Ann Arbor, MI, and the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University, in Atlanta, GA.

Article Abstract:
A recent exhibition of Olmec art includes many fine objects, but unfortunately many are of unknown provenance. The lack of careful archaeological excavation of Olmec sites has hampered the study of that culture, which predates the Maya by more than a thousand years and may have been the source of many Mesoamerican cultural traits. The exhibition, entitled 'The Olmec World: Ritual and Rulership,' was at Princeton University's Art Museum until Feb 25, 1996, and is scheduled to open at Houston's Museum of Fine Arts on April 14, 1996.

Article Abstract:
Excavations along the Newfoundland coast which shed light on the Maritime Archaic culture are discussed. The Maritime Archaic Indians lived more than 5,000 years ago, living in this area for more than 2 millennia. Artifacts uncovered were used in their burials.
