Extranet are a means of rewarding loyal core customers by offering them special deals and services. Giant Step president Rishad Tobaccowala noted that marketers are moving from informational Web advertising to transactional Web sites.

FedEx's VirtualOrder program is establishing more customer loyalty by encouraging its clients to go online. The shipping service firm is offering its customers space on FedEx's Web site to create their own online catalogs. FedEx then downloads orders from these customers with online catalog services and delivers the packages. Customers of FedEx can also track their own customers' orders via the software.
