Nassau Broadcasting Partners President and CEO Louis F. Mercatanti Jr. has raised money through his fifteen radio stations as part of a reward for the arrest of those responsible for cutting a 130 foot swastika in a Washington Township, NJ, cornfield. The money matches the $5,000 reward offered by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and Gov. Whitman for information leading to the arrest of the yet-unidentified racist group, bringing the total reward money up to $15,000. Mercatanti announced that Nassau Broadcasting was proud to be a part of the growing Nassau interfaith, multi-racial coalition that has joined together to fight bias and discrimination in New Jersey.

The tax-exemption case of radio station WISP of Bucks County, PA, was remanded in May 2001 by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court. WISP, which is incorporated under the name 'Holy Spirit Radio Foundation Inc., claims it is a non-profit corporation, and thus is exempted from paying local and county real estate taxes. In a recent court case, Holy Spirit's claim of being tax-exempt was denied by the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. Previously, the station was denied by the Bucks County Board of Assessment Appeals.

Infinity Broadcasting Corp., owner of radio station WIP, and WIP sports host Howard Eskin have settled a lawsuit filed against them by the Miss America Pageant. The Miss America Pageant sued Infinity and Eskin for slander in US District Court. According to published reports, Eskin accused the Miss America Pageant of being fixed. The settlement included an apology by Eskin, and Infinity agreed to provide airtime on its various stations across the US to the Miss America Pageant.
